Helping Active People Stay Active
Foot and ankle care focused on education, prevention, and practical solutions so you can keep doing the things you love.
Dr. Baird Method
With more than 25 years of experience treating foot and ankle conditions in the Barrington community, Dr. Baird has developed a patient-centered approach to care. His method begins with educating patients about their condition, identifying the root cause of their pain, and providing practical solutions to restore foot and ankle health. The goal is simple: help patients stay active and continue enjoying the activities they love.
About
James A. Baird DPM
Dr. Baird has deep roots in the Barrington community. A graduate of Barrington High School, he went on to attend the University of Wisconsin–Madison before earning his Doctor of Podiatric Medicine degree from the Dr. William M. Scholl College of Podiatric Medicine at Rosalind Franklin University in Chicago.
After completing his training, Dr. Baird returned to the community he grew up in to serve the people of Barrington and the surrounding area. He and his wife, Annette, have raised their four children in Barrington and remain actively involved in the local community.
Understanding Movement and Activity
Dr. Baird believes the best way to treat active patients is to understand the activities they love. He regularly participates in many of the same fitness programs and sports as his patients to better understand the physical demands they place on the feet and ankles.
Over the years he has explored a wide variety of activities including running, CrossFit, Pilates, Lagree fitness, pickleball, Orangetheory, StretchLab programs, barefoot running, and the Pose running technique.
This hands-on approach helps him understand why injuries develop and how to provide practical solutions that allow patients to recover, stay active, and return to the activities they enjoy.
A Focus on Root Causes and Practical Solutions
Dr. Baird is committed to identifying the underlying causes of foot and ankle problems rather than simply treating symptoms. His goal is to help patients become pain-free and active again through practical, effective treatment strategies.
Patient education is a key part of his approach. Dr. Baird believes that when patients understand their condition, they feel empowered to take the steps necessary to improve their health and prevent future injuries.
Integrating Technology and Advanced Treatment
Dr. Baird is also passionate about using technology when it can improve diagnosis and treatment outcomes. He frequently utilizes advanced therapies such as Class IV Remy laser therapy, EPAT (Extracorporeal Pulse Activation Technology), and regenerative injection treatments when appropriate.
These technologies, combined with thoughtful clinical evaluation and patient education, allow Dr. Baird to offer comprehensive treatment options tailored to each individual patient.
Helping Patients Stay Connected Through Activity
Dr. Baird believes that physical activity is about more than exercise. Staying active allows people to connect with others, participate in their community, and maintain overall health and well-being.
When pain prevents someone from being active, it can affect not only their physical health but also their ability to engage with their family, friends, and community. Dr. Baird’s mission is to help patients regain their mobility so they can continue to live active, connected lives.
